Stress takes many forms including loss of appetite, comfort eating, struggling to sleep, not wanting to get up in the morning, worrying about small things and irritability. Everyone faces different stresses in their lives and everyone responds differently. A certain amount of anxiety is a good thing; it is natural to be aware of potential threats around you. You need to be vigilant when crossing a road for example. The use of hypnotherapy to empower people before events they are nervous about can be very powerful. If you need to speak at an event and are nervous about it I can work with you to visualise yourself speaking in a positive way. This can build your confidence before an event as you have already practised it successfully in your mind. This technique works well for clients who are preparing for interviews, exams or are anxious about hospital appointments or the dentist.
Phobias
Phobias can develop at any time in our lives. A bad experience (such as a stressful flight or being chased by a dog) can lead to a fear that gets out of control. Phobias can also be learnt if we see people around us having certain fears. I work with clients with phobias over three sessions to reframe their thoughts around the problem.
